The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Indiana University Health (the No. 1 hospital in Indiana) and the Indiana University School of Medicine (the nation’s largest medical school and a top-ranked U.S. medical school) seek a strategic leader to guide a robust and expanding academic program that serves as Indiana’s primary referral center for complex gynecologic cancer care.

Under the strategic leadership of a renowned Chair, the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology serves as the academic, clinical, and administrative leader of the Gynecologic Oncology Division within the department and is responsible for advancing the division’s missions in clinical excellence, research innovation, education, faculty development, and strategic growth across the IU Health system.

This role requires a collaborative, forward-looking leader with a proven record in academic medicine, faculty mentorship, program development, and operational management. The Division Director will work closely with departmental and health system leadership to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and continued growth of a nationally recognized gynecologic oncology program.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

• Lead a growing Division of five gynecologic oncologists and three advanced practice providers, with ongoing program expansion.
• Provide full-scope gynecologic oncology care, including open, robotic, and laparoscopic surgery, chemotherapy management, and oncology consultation.
• Primary practice sites include IU Health University Hospital and the IU Melvin & Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Indiana’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additional care locations include IU North Hospital (Carmel) and Eskenazi Health (Indianapolis), with planned expansion to IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. Faculty also support complex obstetrical emergencies at Riley Hospital for Children.
• Support multidisciplinary cancer care alongside radiation oncology, pathology, genomics, palliative care, plastic surgery, social work, and patient-navigation services.
• Participate in a rotating service model, including inpatient consults, OR time, and outpatient oncologic care.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, with opportunities to support the department’s new Gynecologic Oncology fellowship.
• IU School of Medicine’s 2025 NIH funding ranked No. 15 among all public universities.
• Engage in research, quality improvement, surgical simulation, clinical trials, and academic leadership aligned with areas of interest and expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certification

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology (ABOG)
• Completion of a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship

Academic Rank

• Associate Professor or Professor at time of appointment

Experience

• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in an academic medical environment
• Expertise in comprehensive gynecologic cancer management, including minimally invasive surgery and chemotherapy
• Prior experience as Division Director, Medical Director, or comparable leadership role preferred
• Demonstrated success in:
