The VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) is seeking a skilled, missiondriven Emergency Medicine Physician to join the dynamic Emergency Department at the Sacramento VA Medical Center (Mather, CA). This role offers an outstanding balance of clinical impact, federal stability, and California lifestyle.
Position Overview
As a VANCHCS Emergency Medicine Physician, you will:
- Provide immediate evaluation, stabilization, and management of highacuity adult patients, including cardiac, pulmonary, neurologic, traumarelated, and complex medical emergencies.
- Perform rapid diagnostics and interventions using bedside ultrasound, EKG interpretation, pointofcare testing, advanced airway techniques, and coordination of emergent imaging.
- Determine safe patient disposition—admission, transfer, or discharge—in collaboration with inpatient teams and specialty services.
- Work in a modern ED supported by nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, social work, and integrated behavioral health.
- Document thoroughly in the VA’s electronic health record and participate in FPPE/OPPE, credentialing, QI, peer review, and ED processimprovement initiatives.
- Contribute to a culture centered on safety, teamwork, Veteranfocused care, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
- MD/DO degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Strong emergency medicine clinical skills and commitment to Veteran care
