CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy is seeking a quality-driven, patient-centered Anesthesiologist to join our academic medical center in Omaha, Nebraska. This position offers a diverse, high-acuity clinical practice within a collaborative, team-based environment, along with the opportunity to play an active role in education and program development. This position offers the opportunity to maintain a broad and diverse anesthesiology practice with exposure to both routine and high-acuity cases in a supportive academic environment. This opportunity is ideal for physicians seeking a broad scope of practice, including trauma, and an interest in contributing to a growing academic program.
Practice Details
- Join a team of 23 anesthesiologists and 27 CRNAs
- Practice within a care team model with CRNAs and incoming medical direction of residents
- Work at a 391-bed Level I Trauma Center with a complex and diverse patient population
- Support a system performing approximately 20,000+ anesthetics annually
- Academic medical center with a newly approved Anesthesiology Residency Program launching 2026
- EPIC EMR across the system
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide anesthetic care across a broad range of surgical services, including:
o ENT
o General surgery
o Neurosurgery
o OB/GYN
o Orthopedics
o Thoracic
o Trauma and emergent surgical cases
o Urology
- Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs, residents, and medical students in a team-based environment
Schedule & Call Structure
- Shared general call schedule averaging 5 primary call shifts per month, including 3 dedicated in-house nocturnist coverage shifts and 3 unrestricted home call responsibilities
- Post-call day off
Academic Appointment
- Academic appointment through with Creighton University School of Medicine
- Active involvement in resident education within a newly launched anesthesiology residency and teaching medical students and future SRNAs
- Opportunity to help build and shape a new residency program
- Participation in mentorship, curriculum development, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
- Eligible for medical licensure in Nebraska
