Inpatient Addiction Medicine Physician

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Inpatient Addiction Medicine Physician to join our growing Addiction Medicine Division, and work at Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey.
This physician will play a critical role in providing evidence-based addiction medicine consultations to hospitalized patients with substance use disorders while helping expand innovative addiction treatment services across one of New Jersey’s leading healthcare systems.
About the Role
The Inpatient Addiction Medicine Physician will provide expert consultation, assessment, and treatment recommendations for patients with substance use disorders throughout their hospitalization. The physician will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and community recovery resources to ensure seamless transitions of care and long-term recovery support.
Position Highlights
- Consultative practice focused on hospitalized patients with substance use disorders
- Work collaboratively with physicians, residents, nurses, advanced practice providers, social workers, case managers, peer recovery specialists, and behavioral health teams
- Opportunity to help shape and grow a rapidly expanding addiction medicine program
- Participate in quality improvement, program development, and clinical education initiatives
- Foster a patient-centered, stigma-free approach to addiction treatment and recovery
- Opportunity to teach and mentor residents, medical students, and other healthcare trainees
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in a primary specialty, including Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or another applicable specialty
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Addiction Medicine
- Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey
- Strong commitment to evidence-based addiction treatment and recovery services
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Passion for improving outcomes for patients affected by substance use disorders

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $310,000 to $325,000 per year.
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience.
