UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes five schools (medicine, nursing, health professions, public and population health, and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation (DOSR) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) has a long-standing tradition of excellence in research and education. DOSR operates at three campus locations in the region including League City, Clear Lake, and Galveston. Today we have a multispecialty Orthopaedic Surgery team with educational, as well as research/innovative opportunities. providing Podiatry and Orthopedic services at clinical locations in Galveston County and Southern Harris County. The DOSR is seeking a highly motivated Podiatrist to join the team to meet the increasing patient care needs in a rapidly growing region in Texas.
The UTMB DOSR has both foot and ankle surgeons and podiatrists and they split the care of Foot and ankle conditions. The podiatry team specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including heel pain such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, arthritis, sprains, fractures, and sports-related injuries. We also treat structural deformities like bunions, hammertoes, flat feet, and high arches, as well as diabetes-related foot conditions and skin and nail concerns. Our care includes both conservative and advanced treatment options, such as orthotics, medications, injections, physical therapy, and surgical procedures, all aimed at relieving pain, restoring mobility, and improving overall function. Our services include surgical management of deformities such as bunions and hammertoes, treatment of forefoot fractures and reconstruction of soft tissue tendon. We also perform limb salvage procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
- D.P.M. from an accredited medical school
- Training in a Podiatry Residency Program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Podiatric Medicine
- Ability to obtain a valid unrestricted Texas state Podiatrist license
