Philadelphia Animal Specialty and Emergency (PASE) is seeking a dedicated Clinical Manager to join our team! PASE is a privately-owned 24/7 Emergency and Specialty hospital located in the heart of Philadelphia. A PASE Clinical Manager is a licensed CVT or experienced veterinary technician who works closely with the veterinarian specialist service leader(s) to manage the daily operations of their service and oversee the support staff.
All support staff within the service report directly to the Clinical Manager, who is responsible for using their technical experience and training to provide high quality treatment to patients, ensuring proper staffing levels and scheduling, overseeing employee feedback and review schedules, managing daily workflow, establishing expectations for the service, and maintaining lines of communication with other services and departments in the hospital and the referring community. The Clinical Manager will run the service in a way that aligns with the hospital's vision, with the Technician Manager and Service Head as support, and will manage their team in a way that aligns with PASE's core values.
PASE is one of the best-staffed veterinary hospitals in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, with boarded specialists in Critical Care, Radiology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Oncology in addition to our robust ER team. We prioritize education, offering a range of in-house training for our support staff and CE lectures for our referring community.
Our facility is equipped with two surgical suites, a dedicated imaging room, Olympus scopes, CT, 1.5T MRI, ultrasound (Aplio i700), digital radiology, in-house lab equipment, emergency ultrasound, and multi-parameter anesthetic monitoring equipment. Responsibilities:
Follow all responsibilities outlined in the Job Description for Internal Medicine Technician Clinical Manager.
Contribute to technician training within and outside of the department, including assisting the Internal Medicine team in developing training and assessment materials and refining the leveling system as it pertains to IM at PASE.
Establish and maintain lines of communication with all services and departments, including hospital-level email and Slack groups.
Respond to employee inquiries and concerns, and deliver feedback to team members in a kind and respectful manner, involving the Head of Internal Medicine and Technician Manager as needed.
Demonstrate willingness to hold employees accountable to established standards, including enacting disciplinary action when necessary.
Ensure employees are given consistent opportunities to provide feedback, and follow a consistent review process.
Encourage and support employees in advancing their own skills and knowledge, including consistent interaction with PASE's clinical educators.
Meet regularly with the Technician Manager and HR Administrator for support with onboarding, review schedules, merit increases, staffing needs, hospital policy, benefits, and employee concerns.
Maintain and organize logistical components of the service, including team scheduling, on-call schedule, PTO, and vacation, and manage time card accuracy with support from the Technician Manager.
Manage attendance issues with support from the Technician Manager.
Ensure DEA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards are followed, and commit to developing SOPs that emphasize consistent, safe, efficient, and progressive medicine and workflow.
Ensure all new protocols, SOPs, procedures, and policies are communicated effectively to the team in a timely fashion.
Work with the Head of IM to improve daily workflow, manage developing caseload, and maintain morale within the service.
Participate in service meetings and PASE management meetings, and hold IM staff meetings regularly and as needed.
Represent the hospital at community events, outreach events, educational events, conferences, and recruiting events as needed.
Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities as determined by the Head of IM and hospital management.

Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Credentialing (CVT/RVT/LVT) or the ability to obtain credentialing within 6 months of hire is required
Clinical skills and knowledge equivalent to PASE Level 3 IM Technician
Specialty certification (VTS Internal Medicine) preferred but not required
At least 4 years of veterinary medicine experience required, specialty experience preferred
Management experience preferred
Strong employee management skills, with the self-confidence to moderate and resolve differences between technicians and veterinary assistants
Positive, supportive, and encouraging attitude toward staff and clients, with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to hold people accountable for their commitments and responsibilities
Ability to handle misdirected negative emotion and behavior
Capability to organize and carry out leadership decisions and direct staff through the complete process
Ability to differentiate between major and minor issues as they relate to client and patient care
Strong time management skills
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds to waist height, and to restrain and walk animals up to 200 lbs (with assistance for animals over 40 lbs)
Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces up to 10 hours per day
Availability for a 40 hour/week schedule (4 x 10 hour shifts most common), with flexibility including weekends and on-call availability for after-hours anesthesia cases (additional wages and on-call fee provided)
